Marisol Jiménez is a composer, performer, and multi-disciplinary artist from Guadalajara, Mexico. Her work is characterized by an intense fascination with the tactile dimension of processes of sound creation. She seeks to express the thermodynamic phenomenon of entropy within musical structures, bringing the primeval into collision with the technological. Her output includes numerous chamber and electronic works, as well as sound and intermedia installations. Most of her acoustic, electronic, and mixed media works involve her own sound sculptures. She completed her doctoral degree in composition at Stanford University in 2011, which was preceded by a master’s degree from Mills College in Oakland, CA in 2005. She currently lives in Berlin.
